2008 SALE IS SEPT. 27!

Dear Friends,

It is our pleasure to invite you to be with us in the rolling hills of southern Ohio on Saturday, September 29 for our 2007 production sale.  We are always excited to have other breeders visit us and provide the ultimate evaluation of the genetic progress of our herd.

Maplecrest Farms is truly a family operation and anyone who has been around us working cows or at a show already know this.  Lindsey and Lauren are involved in all aspects of this enterprise and it is exciting to see them grow and mature in the cattle business.

There have been plenty of exciting developments at Maplecrest since our last sale.  Our senior herd sire, TC Total 410, has emerged as one of the most exciting young sires in the breed.  His unique combination of explosive growth, outstanding carcass traits, superior phenotype, and high fertility place him in an exclusive group of breed-changing sires.  Total is capably assisted by our natural herd sires GAR MC Full Circle and GAR Everest 9409.

We are constantly trying to improve the depth and quality of our donor pen and GAR 1407 New Design 1063 is our latest effort towards achieving this goal.  This extraordinary female joins forces with other descendants of some of the noted cow families in the breed to help us to offer you the strongest set of genetics that we possibly can.

Most breeders have a strong belief in their breeding programs and we are no exception.  Maplecrest Rita A531 is the best example that I can give of our philosophy.  While it was very gratifying to see her unique “cow look” recognized when she was named Reserve Grand Champion Female at the Atlantic National Super ROV Show, her appealing pedigree and EPD package gives us optimism that her greatest value lies ahead.  We stubbornly believe that can have excellent phenotype and genetics in the same package.

Our herdsman, Doug Mollenkopf, continues to provide great effort towards the growth and development of this herd.

We are pleased to join forces with our friends at Boyd Beef Cattle to make September 29 a day of great genetic opportunity.  We encourage you to attend “The Breeder’s Cup” sale hosted by the Boyd family at Noon at May’s Lick, Kentucky.  At the conclusion of their sale, we invite you to venture across the Ohio River towards Hillsboro, Ohio for our sale at Maplecrest Farms beginning at 6 p.m.

Please do not hesitate to call if we can answer any questions about the cattle or assist you with your travel plans.  We look forward to seeing you on the evening of September 29.

Sincerely,
John Grimes
